Aberdeen May 10 Dr Floyd J Leblarc Brookings dean of the State College pharmacy division and Victor E Fell St Paul member of the Minnesota State Board of Pharmacy were elected co chairmen of district five boards of colleges and pharmacy at the annual meeting here. J F Rabe Des Moines Ia was elected secretary treasurer The Twin Cities were selected for the 1945 meeting with time city and place to be fixed later The meeting concluded here this afternoon with five states Minnesota Nebraska Iowa South and North Dakota represented.
May 10 program in the Community Hall featured the school band directed by Hans Christiansen, the Community Church choir, instrumental and vocal solos, piano duets, taiuo readings, and guest soloists Mrs Jessie French and Miss Alberta Null. A silver offering benefited the Red Cross.
Chapter AK FTO members gathered at Mrs H O Bard's home Monday evening for a 7 o'clock dinner and a news session. Mrs F J Hoffman of St Paul delivered a book review focused on Carolyn Mugs by Elizabeth Corbett.
Huron College faculty members are slated to give commencement addresses in South Dakota high schools. Dr Cornelius Plantinga will speak at Virgil on May 18 and at Wolsey earlier. Loftus Ward will address Cavour on May 19, with additional talks planned in Letcher Ipswich Tulare Ashton and other towns. Dean Fred J Plachy has spoken at Bancroft and will address SDSU on May 9 at a Pi Gamma Mu banquet. Also noted are promotions: Allen Day Kettering and Tromer Henry Hoffiezer listed among first lieutenants and George Francis McDougall among second lieutenants.
The War Department announced on May 10 that Lt. McDougall of Huron received a promotion in the United States Army. Details on the new rank and unit were released in the briefing.
Mr and Mrs Daniel Giest and Freda entertained at a dinner in Faulkton last week in honor of T Sergeant and Mrs Terry Conner. Also guests included Mr and Mrs Cliff Conner Mrs Leo Huss Mary Ann and Mrs Mary Chapman and Doyle.
Willow Lake May 6 field day drew a large crowd with morning sports prizes and a community lunch. Float winners included Collins 27 taught by Grace Hill first, Lake 51 taught by Nelda Mundhonke second, and Central Hague taught by Welman Braman third.
