Nazis Grow War Chest After Scandinavian Plunder
Washington May 2 German war chest fortified by Nordic asset grabs reportedly exceeds 200 million dollars in value. Officials cite unreported reserves of gold and securities from Denmark and Norway, with central bank figures showing limited gold but hints of vast hidden assets. Denmark and Norway reportedly moved large gold consignments to London before invasion. Norway also shipped sizable metal during January while Roosevelt’s policies restrict Norwegian assets in the United States.
