Pierre March 19. F D. Kriebs of Beresford was appointed by Governor W. J. Bulow as finance secretary of agriculture to succeed the late Louis N. Grill. Kriebs, a lifelong Democrat, will move to Pierre after his business moves. The ten percent malt tax bill on retail sales becomes law without Bulow's signature as he vetoed several bills but approved others. The session also saw bills on seed registration, civil service in Sioux Falls, and poultry dealer registration, with Bulow calling the alfalfa seed bill not good policy.
