Roosevelt seeks seven billion wartime appropriation

President Roosevelt sent to Congress a request for 7 billion dollars to fund military and defense material to aid democracies. The plan includes 2.054 billion for aircraft and aeronautical materiel and 1.343 billion for ordnance, with funds for vehicles, ships, and factory facilities. The request aims at rapid enactment and allows transfers up to 20 percent between categories, with total funds available through June 30, 1943.

A second major fire struck Interior on Tuesday night, destroying Frank Hight’s general store and three other western-side buildings. Fire chiefs from Philip and Kadoka battled the blaze, with the earlier serving blaze having wiped out much of the district.
