Unadapted Seed Banned In AAA Setup
Washington March 10 The Agricultural Adjustment Administration warned farmers they will lose portions of farm program payments if they plant unadapted red clover or alfalfa seed. Imported seed except Canadian would be charted under the program. Farmers can earn about 44 acres per acre diverted from soil depleting crops with additional pay averaging $3 per acre for soil diverting practices on the diverted acreage. Use of unadapted seed in the corn belt north central AAA region forfeits both the $6 and $3 payments. States in the area include Nebraska South Dakota Minnesota Missouri Wisconsin Illinois Michigan Indiana and Ohio.
