Tourist trade in South Dakota eyed for big growth
Rapid City business leader Paul E Bellamy predicts South Dakota will see rapid tourist revenue growth as development of Bad Lands National Park proceeds. He cites 25 million dollars spent by tourists last year and argues a 1000 dollar state appropriation will enable land purchases and highway linking national parks, potentially doubling tourist traffic within three years and boosting farm markets. He notes that tourism could eventually rival farm income and stresses the state's strong natural resources as growth leverage.
