Iroquois Protest Studied By Board

Iroquois high school representatives met with district committee and tournament officials this afternoon to discuss a protest over Huron high school's 45 to 14 victory in the district 14 basketball tournament final. The protest centers on a Huron player allegedly not removed after four personal fouls. District committee members called into conference included Huron principal O. D. Dunbar as chairman and C Irvin Krumm of Iroquois, with Nevin J. Platt of Hitchcock present.

Three Fires Hit Yankton in Weekend Blaze

A series of fires Sunday and Monday damaged two Yankton businesses and a farm, causing thousands in losses. Firefighters battled a stove caused blaze at Bages implement shop for hours, with roof collapses and an elevator shaft incident injuring a firefighter. Final Tribute to Senator Walsh in Senate Funeral

President Roosevelt and mourners joined Montana Senator Thomas J. Walsh’s Catholic funeral in the Senate chamber. Archbishop Curley led the service with a citation from Timothy as Walsh’s colleagues and cabinet members looked on. Garner, Curley, and Curley’s aides attended as the casket lay among flowers in a solemn, state observance.

Walls Of Hospital Collapse In Memphis Killing Two

A rear wall of the Shelby county hospital for the poor collapsed in high winds in Memphis killing Zeb Vancy Britton and Rubin Gold and injuring six others. The deceased are Britton, Gold, and several named victims. survivors include Max Plesofsky J. E. Murphy and others.

Stock Exchange Names Governing Committee

Governors of the New York stock exchange at morning session gave a special committee full powers to take any steps deemed necessary in the present situation. No action was taken on a further exchange holiday. All markets were closed today under the decision made last Saturday when exchanges voted to close for Herbert Iman’s two day banking holiday, which would expire tomorrow.

Lang Speaks On Educational Meet Highlights

Willow Lake Man Victim Of Storm

Glenn Russell, 28, of Willow Lake, an employee of Northwestern Engineering in Rapid City, was found dead in his stalled car after a severe Wyoming snowstorm near Newcastle. He reportedly wrote a note for relatives stating his colleagues deserve compensation for his death. Russell died from exposure and exhaustion while attempting to free his vehicle, 14 miles north of Newcastle.
