Moissac Flood Kills Over 100 In France Disaster
Moissac, France, reports say more than 100 residents died when the Yarn river flooded through a broken dike after midnight. Two quarters of the city were nearly wiped out as homes collapsed and darkness fell, with 26 other fatalities elsewhere in southern France. The Garonne and Agout rivers rose, areas of Cadillac and Villemur evacuated, and a spaghetti factory trapped workers before being freed. The city’s power and lights were destroyed, with extensive property loss and a factory damage estimate of 4,000.0% francs.
