Road work contracts awarded by South Dakota highway commission
Pierre June 15 The South Dakota highway commission awarded four road improvement contracts after bids were opened yesterday. A paving contract for 1051 miles in Pierre went to Summit Construction of Summit and Central Construction of Sioux Falls for 539,953.55. Three oil surfacing contracts went to Northwestern Engineering of Rapid City for 18,323.53 in Gregory county, to Northwestern Engineering for 7,519.83 in Haskell county, and to Larson Engineering of Sioux Falls for 27,252.79 in Lyman county. Mitchell paving of sod for one mile went to Queer City Construction of Sioux Falls for 20,001.90. The commission planned further awards today.

Balloon Flight Progress Near Black Hills National Geographic
