Adventist Camp Rally Set At State Encampment Schedule

A 1 30 P M Educational Rally opens Thursday at the state Adventist encampment with A L Watt of Plainview Academy and H C Hartman of Union College as key speakers. The denomination runs 65 academies 73 intermediate schools and 2483 elementary schools with 113257 students and 5354 teachers. Martin Re-Elected Head Of Grange

J. J. Martin of Watertown was re elected master of the South Dakota Grange at the 31st annual convention. Officers chosen for the coming year include Tenney, Buller, Ford, Abel, Carle, Pollard, Snesrud, Gronseth, Bischoff, Gronseth, Joann Martin, Flora, Clason, and Thue to the executive committee. Governor Bushfield praised the Grange for backing farm prosperity and noted South Dakota’s strong credit standing and grain production. A memorial service, banquets, and sessions preceded a final day of officer installations and degree work. A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs Mae Mortensen, 242 Tenth, weighing 9 pounds 6 1/2 ounces, named Delia Joy.

Tax bill slashes married and single exemptions

Washington plan would cut married exemption from 2500 to 2000 and single from 1000 to 300. Surtaxes would rise to 13 percent on net incomes from 6000 to 100000, with a 1 percent corporate levy. Bombs killing four in Switzerland traced to British planes

Swiss officials announced bombs that killed four and wounded many around Lake Leman were of British origin. Seven bombs struck Henens and six hit Geneva, killing two civilians and a soldier and a woman. A French origin blast near Lake Constance prompted a protest to Paris.
