Ravine Lake Opens Season With Lifeguard On Duty

Ravine Lake on Huron's north side opened the 1937 swimming season with a lifeguard stationed at the east beach. City Recreation Director Loftus Ward urged caution, noted no bath houses, and said the general city playground program would open in the week of June 21. He warned swimmers that lifeguards cannot prevent risky behavior and emphasized supervising children near deep water. The warning comes as water levels are higher than ever, with dangerous depths in much of the recreation area. The piece also references unrelated historical items and a court notice from Beadle County, South Dakota, about a property dispute and quieting title, with formal filings and deadlines.
