Removal Of Two Officers Sought In Dewey County

Dewey county officials W. E. Wen lows states attorney and Rollie Quinn sheriff faced removal petitions sent to Governor Warren Green. Petitions cite Mobridge court records claiming guilty pleas and fines for intoxication on May 1. Green said investigations are underway with state sheriff and attorney general offices and hearings for Wanous and Quinn are possible but not set.

Fallon of Yankton was elected illustrious grand master of the Grand Council Royal and Select Masters at the fifteenth annual assembly. De Smet Old Settlers Day Draws Large Crowd Despite Rain

Large crowds attended De Smet Old Settlers Day as clearing afternoon skies drew a big turnout. About 150 pioneers registered in the morning while street sports drew many participants. The day closed with fireworks and dances as the Sioux City Stock Yards club lost 10 to 8 to the Gilkerson Colored Giants of Milwaukee in a poorly played game.

Pastor George E. Eneas of Gary Dies at Mitchell Hospital

Methodist pastor George E. Eneas, longtime Gary church leader and Dakota Methodist Conference member since 1908, died at Mitchell hospital. He preached at Fulton in 1909 1910 while at Dakota Wesleyan University and served charges in Ethan White Lake Spearfish Deadwood Camp Crook Sturgis Cavour and Gary. Survived by widow and two sons. Funeral services planned in Gary Friday.

Mrs Grebel Reappointed Secretary at South Dakota Religious Ed Meet

Mrs A L Grebel of Parker was reappointed general secretary of the South Dakota council of religious education at the annual convention in Watertown. She considered resigning but the executive board urged her to continue as active head. Her report notes 84 431 people in South Dakota Sunday school work with 7 548 teachers and officers and 25 895 children under 12. She urges family worship and temperance education and votes on election day. A memorial service honored the late George H Miller of Huron, former general secretary.
