F Burke OBrien elected to lead the G A R with Warren E Davis and Lennox as vice officers. The group voted to continue the practice and install officers at the Hot Springs home. The meeting also installed both organizations and set a board agenda.
Detroit police and state authorities announced the surrender of a suspect tied to the Lindbergh kidnapping inquiry. Lt Walley Coughlin said the man arrived in Trenton for questioning and would face possible action depending on further results.
Weather outlook for Micon South Dakota shows unsettled conditions tonight and Friday. Cooler temperatures expected, with cooler air mainly in the extreme east portion. Winds may remain light with chances of a few showers.
Washington June 8 Nearly $3 000 was raised for food at a boxing benefit while eight thousand veterans demanding their bonuses formed an occupation camp. Trucks stood ready to move supplies and men toward feeding sites as organizers planned to send volunteers to Baltimore and toward Annapolis. Waters, once head of the first delegation, returned to command the assembled force amid continues efforts to obtain food and shelter.
CHICAGO June 3. These Chinese cooks have been at it a long time. Dr. Berthold Daufer curator of archaeology brought to the field museum from China a display of prehistoric double boilers similar to those used by modern Rouge lives but made of clay which he said were in use by the Chinese some 400 years ago.
The Senate approved a bill by Senator Copeland to require all barbershops in the District of Columbia to close one day per week. Copeland argued a weekly day off would protect barbers health and, by extension, customer health, framing it as a health and safety measure.

Los Angeles June 9 17 The advisory referendum to gauge public opinion on prohibition is urged by G McAdoo secretary of the treasury in a lengthy statement He would have the vote guide questions on repealing or amending the 18th Amendment and would be authorized by Congress sunset in order to determine whether Congress should regulate or prohibit intoxicants The former cabinet member returns to politics leading the California delegation to the Democratic national convention and supports a national referendum on the issue
Police say a small group of men identified as communists attempted a demonstration in front of City Alderman John Peterson’s home in Minneapolis. Officers suffered minor injuries. one man, Tom Rogish, claimed leader status and was taken into custody after treatment for lacerations and bruises. Police could not determine the crowd’s motive or dispersal timing.
