Suspended LA Homicide Captain in Slaying Probe

Captain James Bean head of the Los Angeles homicide squad is suspended for apparent negligence in the slaying probe of Mrs Patty, with suspect William Tallman linked to the case. Tallman was aboard the Admiral Benson, held in a locked stateroom, and signals from his hotel and residence tied him to the crime as an inquest is ordered. Call Meeting For Junior High Boys Summer Program

Sails Seaplane Sets New Altitude Record at 38 555 Feet

Navy Lieutenant Apollo Soucek achieved an official seaplane altitude record of 38 555 feet after validation by the National Aeronautic Association and the Bureau of Standards. Mount Rushmore Memorial Work Ordered to Start

Washington June 7 Work on the Mount Rushmore national memorial was ordered expedited at a commission meeting. President Hoover named Julius Rosenwald temporary chairman and other members were appointed. The commission, created by act of Congress, will use $250000 federal funds plus matching public subscription. State and federal funds already expended total about 150000. Joseph S. Cutlinan was elected president and C. M. Day secretary. work to transfer from the South Dakota state commission to the national body began.

Mitchell Prepares South Dakota National Guard Camp

MITCHELL June 7 Preparations are under way for the South Dakota national guard encampment to be held next week. About seven hundred officers and men will attend the two week camp the first east of the Missouri river in years. The camp lies north of the city near Lake Mitchell with the field cleared to an orderly rectangle. Col Boyd Wales will review the regiment daily from the parade ground as units assemble from Wolsey and Parker. The motor transport company from the Rapid City Indian school will arrive later in the week.

Watertown Man Guilty of Second Degree Manslaughter

Robert Wiseman of Watertown found guilty of second degree manslaughter after a 37 hour jury deliberation. He killed his stepson Gerald Enis following a dispute over a radio, wounding another relative. Reparations Agreement Signed Ends Long Negotiations

An international panel led by Owen D. Young signed a reparations settlement in Paris on June 7, fixing German payments to Allied creditors for 59 years. The plan, replacing the Dawes framework, involves roughly 100 billion marks or about 24 billion dollars in transfers through 1989, and requires ratification and detailed implementation.
