Huron hosts the 24th annual encampment of the South Dakota department United Spanish War Veterans starting Sunday June 4 with both Vets and the Ladies Auxiliary assembling. The opening day includes 1 pm registration a reception regimental reunions and a joint memorial service at First Presbyterian Church with multiple performances.

Roslyn Man Held In Street Fight Death
Arnold McCarlson a 26 year old Roslyn area farmer was bound over to circuit court on first degree manslaughter charges after a three hour hearing in Webster. State witnesses testified Hanson died May 25 in a Webster hospital from injuries suffered May 11 when McCarlson allegedly knocked him down on a Roslyn sidewalk. Bond was set at 5000 dollars.
