Boy Dragged Across Field By Runaway Hay Team

WELLINGTON SPRINGS July 31 A young son of Manley Voorhees was injured when a horse driven hay rake team ran away on the Lloyd Housner farm. The boy was placed on a horse by his older brother when the horses bolted dragging him across a field. Medical staff report a dislocated knee back injuries and possible internal injuries. The older brother escaped unhurt.

Howard Woman Killed in Crash Near Canova

Mrs. George Steger of Howard died in a two vehicle collision on a westbound highway near Canova. Ruth Port of LeMars Iowa sustained injuries and Miss Port was reported recovering. The truck driver was Nv Gasaman of Canova. No investigation will be conducted. The crash occurred at a large intersection where visibility was poor.

Plan Habeas Corpus Action

Habeas corpus proceedings start tomorrow in Hand county to seek freedom for Joe Wilshire and C L Marlette two Sioux City detectives held on charges of giving liquor to minors. They were bound over to the fall term of circuit court and require $1,000 bonds. Mrs Winnifred Nuhn filed the complaint alleging liquor to her daughter and other girls.
