Government rye loan plan announced by Agriculture Department
The Agriculture Department will offer farmers loans on surplus rye at about 35 cents a bushel with a maximum 38 cent cap, for eight major states including Michigan and Minnesota. Loans apply to No 2 rye stored on farm and produced this year, with a seven cent storage allowance through July 1, 1940 if settled with the government. The program uses a demand loan model to supply seed elsewhere if needed, differing from wheat loans. Also noted is a separate visit note about Miss Maxine Graham traveling to Brookings to meet Miss Bucka Starr and join Epworth League Institute meetings.
