Farmers Strike Looms Over Wheat Quotas in Ohio
DAYTON July 17 J E Baker former state senator and president of the Farmers Protective Association warned that his group would strike and starve the nation if the government wins two suits challenging the validity of wheat marketing quotas. He urged farmers at Germantown to refuse to sell or grow crops feeding the nation as suits seek to fix quotas and penalize excess wheat. Louis Bromfield said he helped form a 700 member protest group but opposed any strike. Rep A D Baumhart suggested buying up over quota wheat for starving Europeans and paying penalties from relief funds, denouncing dictatorship in farming policy.
