Madison Firm to Build City Hall
The James Robertson Construction Company of Madison has won the contract to erect the new city hall for 43,502 dollars, underbidding by about 2,000 dollars. The brick tile and concrete building will occupy a 68 by 100 foot block on Center street, with space for fire, police, jail, offices, and assembly rooms on two floors.

Plan Air Lines To Hit Winnipeg
Plans for two air lines between the Twin Cities and Winnipeg were announced. Canadian-American Air Lines, Inc. will start early next week and Northwest Airways, Inc. will open its route within 60 days. Through connections from St. Paul to Chicago will be offered by the Northwest service with tri motor planes and daily mid trips via Fargo and Grand Forks. Canadian-American will serve the two Dakota cities and land at St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Driver Suffers Two Broken Vertebrae in Watertown Crash
In Watertown on July 16 1936 C H Underhill driving a car collided with a boxcar at the Great Northern railroad crossing on Third Avenue. He said he was blinded by lights from beyond the crossing and could not see an approaching switch engine pushing two freight cars. He was thrown into a deep ditch and his car was badly crushed.

Attempt To Break Mark At Hot Springs
Hot Springs hosts a carnival and race meet with world record attempts. Dick Hinch of Chicago, member of the four man team that broke the 160 yard freestyle relay record, will try to set a new mark in the 40 year backstroke. Ray O Keefe of the Illinois Athletic Club helped set the 880 yard relay record and will enter the 25 yard freestyle.

State Park Board Inspects Highway Route
STATE GAME LODGE July 1. Members of the state park board including Senator Peter Norbeck Tom Berry and John Stanley inspected the highway between the state game lodge and the Rushmore memorial at Keystone. They planned to spend much of their time near Iron Mountain Hill City and were to return for a business session. The first sandwich is said to have been made in the seventeenth century.
