Vacation Diary of a Tearoom Hostess and Love Triangle
In a salty diary tone from a tearoom hostess, the narrator records visits from Miss Diane Pegler and her nephew Dick, Roger’s clash with Peter over camp and boarding school, and flirtations with Angela Rocco. Dreams of independence mingle with family ties, estate whispers, and the wish to shed alarm clocks and obligation. The chapter closes with the narrator noting the ring she returns to Roger as she questions gossip and her future.
