Des Moines Iowa January 20 relatives and friends appeal to Mrs Franklin D Roosevelt for clemency for Allen Wheaton and John Mercer condemned to die next Monday. A whited reply from Mrs Roosevelt was sent after the governor Kraschel was away. Wheaton formerly lived in Rapid City South Dakota and a petition claimed to be signed by almost everybody in Rapid City.
ST PAUL Jan 20 Hoover and FBI agents kept the kidnap murder case secret as Pette Anders confessed abducting and killing Charles Ross of Chicago and J Atwood Gray. Anders, brought from Los Angeles under guard, is held in FBI offices with meals brought in, guarded and unseen by the public.
Twila Powers and Carl Sharpe both 16 were married in Oskaloosa Iowa after a hitchhiking courtship that carried them through 16 states. They told courthouse staff the youths supported themselves by odd jobs along their journey.

In Cayro Egypt 16 year old Farouk marries Farida daughter of a Egyptian judge in a Moslem ceremony at the Keubbels Palace. The bride attended through a lattice partition while her mother watched. The contract was signed early and royal salutes thundered as celebrations spread nationwide over a three day fete.
Washington reports Agriculture Department economists estimate a typical worker family spent 356 in 2937 for food. Of that total 11 went to farmers, 195 to processors wholesalers retailers and 208 to shippers, outlining cost breakdowns in the food supply chain.
