University President Defines University as Opportunity Center

Vermilion January 15 President James of the University of South Dakota told the Parents Teachers association at North Junior high that the university is not a nursery or reformatory but a place of opportunity. He said the core function is to present truth across disciplines in the classroom while fostering close student-faculty relations and advisory support. He urged parents and high schools to ensure students seize these opportunities, noting heredity and environment shape outcomes but responsibility rests with students and their families. The talk highlighted the PTA's pivotal role in shaping a strong academic background for future college success.
