High Class Rum Salesman Pleads Guilty in Redfield
Lorun DuBois of Redfield pleaded guilty before Judge Frank R. Fisher to transporting intoxicating liquor. He received a 60 day jail term and a $1000 fine, the largest such fine by the judge in over three years. DuBois admitted running alcohol from Spencer, Iowa, between July and Christmas last year, selling in 10 gallon lots to Redfield businessmen or sometimes by the gallon, bought at $5.59 to $7.59 per gallon and sold at $26 per gallon. He said he could raise the fine from existing funds with help from local partners.
