Lewin Named Beadle County Board Chairman in 1940

John T. Lewin representing District 4 was elected chairman of the Beadle County commission at the January session in the courthouse. He succeeds W. C. Denison Jr. Denison heads the county farm and sanitarium committee with J. B. McAllister and Arthur Miller. Ray Hedlund and Lewin lead the courthouse jail and Beadle County Fair buildings committee. Charles Wilson is reappointed courthouse custodian. Official county newspapers were designated as The Evening Huronite, The Wes tingtor Times Enterprise, and The Wolsey News. Ravine Lake Skating Prep With Warming Shack and Lights

City manager Sears announced work crews have begun preparing Ravine Park lake for skating. A warming shack will be installed and electric lights added while the ice is kept clear of debris. The lake will be flooded to create a smooth surface, with WPA cooperation to maintain the rink. Mrs. F. E. Duntan Taken By Death

Mrs. F E Duntan of Denton died in a Huron hospital after a short illness. Born November 25 1873 at Mason City she moved with her parents to It on in 1942 and attended Huron public schools. She married Frank Duninp in 1913 at Redfield and was a longtime member of Colfax Rebekah Lodge No 9 Buron. Surviving are her husband a brother Ray Huntington an uncle George Huntington four nieces and two nephews. Funeral at Welter Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 oclock with Dr Hubert Ketelle and Dr E B Wilcox officiating. Burial in River Cemetery. Body lies in state 7 to 9 oclock tonight at Welter Chapel.

Mrs May Ross 64 Dies After Two Weeks Ill

Mrs May Ross aged 64 died Sunday night at her home 427 Minnels Avenue Southwest after a two week battle with pneumonia. Funeral services were set for 4:30 PM at the Kinyon Chapel with Dr Hubert Ketelle in charge. The body will be moved to Sioux Falls Wednesday for burial in Mt Pleasant Cemetery. Survived by sister Dora Parks of Polson Montana and brother Harry Parks of San Antonio Texas. Predeceased by parents and brother Waldo, all buried in Sioux Falls.
