Seek Expanded Program To Help Farmers Buy Land
The House agricultural committee proposed a 350000 expansion of the farm tenant program using mortgage insurance to fund private loans without new treasury drains. It would create a revolving fund growing to 200 million in three years, modeled on the National Housing Act with 3 percent amortization over 40 years and a 1 percent service charge. The plan complements a Senate bill, while farm tenancy funding faces last-minute budget wrangling.
