No Antelope Season Soon in South Dakota
Pierre February 25. Prospects for an immediate antelope season in South Dakota appear unlikely says C H Johnson director of the state game and fish department. The new law gives the game commission authority to permit killing of antelope but Johnson says no open season is planned at present. He notes a possible comeback if conditions improve, with restrictions to prevent extinction, and cites the Harding County antelope preserve and past depredations as context for cautious management. A later note reports W Pare returning from Newell with stock for F Noltenemeier who is moving there and will make further trips this week.
