South Dakota Legislators Plan Memorial Services

Members of South Dakota's twenty first legislature will honor Washington and Lincoln with memorial exercises in the house chamber. The program features Judge John T. Medin as principal speaker and L K Fox on the fortieth anniversary of the state's birthday. The event includes music by the Mobridge band and a Miss South Dakota presentation by June Hannon. The session is postponed to Wednesday with a new date not yet set.

Tyndall Man Named Head Of Clothiers

Michael F. Schmit of Tyndall was elected president of the South Dakota Retail Clothiers association at the joint convention of the retailers and the Men's Apparel Club. Officers elected include Raymond Lee of Watertown first vice president Homer Partridge of Pierre second vice president and L J Eggelston of Plankinton secretary treasurer Warner Putnam of Chicago was named honorary field secretary.

Mail Carrier Maintains Perfect Attedance On 22 Mile Route

GANN VALLEY Feb 22 Special C H Wright who runs the star route between Gann Valley and Kimball a 22 mile trek has a perfect attendance record. Since taking the route in 1926 he has traveled about 35000 miles without missing a trip even when roads were poor. He sometimes used a substitute but ensured daily service, a feat praised by local citizens.

State official rules against legalizing Johnsons Rural Credit contracts

Attorney General M Q Sharpe states the legislature cannot legalize Johnsons work for the Rural Credit board and appropriate funds. He cites supreme court rulings that the board had no authority to enter such contracts and that the constitution bars payment of claims made without express legal authority.

Kloke Holds Farm Auction Near Gann Valley

John Kloke held a public auction near Gann Valley selling his personal property. Stock and farm machinery sold well as he plans to move to Aberdeen to farm a land parcel there. John Siegel and Franz Blank will occupy the vacated Kloke farm.

Mail Carrier Has Perfect Record

Franksport report notes a rural carrier ran two weeks in February with ten men seven teams four cars and one tractor to cover daily rounds. Farmers came to town for mail as the period proved the hardest in 17 years with more time lost than ever. Mrs Lawrence hosted the meeting where quick bread and cookies were served to the ladies.
