Faulk Farms Study on Tree Protections for Winter Winds
Faulkton reports 302 of 927 Faulk county farms responding to a questionnaire have trees to shield stock and homes from winter winds. County agent Mossing says only a small portion place trees to protect north and west sides of buildings. He notes three problems for growers: lack of moisture, care, and planting unadapted nursery stock, with moisture cited as most important. To ensure access, prep land by summer and plant trees a year ahead.
