Social events and club notices for Saturday to Monday

Saturday events include a Valentine party at Mrs A J Ingle with Pearl Creek Council of W C A families, a Lebar Temple meeting, and an Odd Fellows gathering. Monday features Knights of Pythias cabaret at K P hall, Women’s Club of Chicago and North Western railway group meet, Newman Club rescheduled, and a Bridge gathering at Mrs F J Geyerman’s.

Hard Times Luncheon Hosted by Presbyterian Ladies Group

Group No 1 of the Ladies Association of the Presbyterian church hosted a 1 30 luncheon at Mrs Georg Sherman's 1240 Illinois Ave SW. Guests sat in the baseman area with paper tableware from ads and colored papers. A reading on Abraham Lincoln and a word contest for hard time yielded winners Mrs Rey Tredway and best costume prizes went to Mrs Dale Thorne and Mrs Leonard Deviz.

Club Meeting Showcases Curtain Treatment Demonstration

The Social Sisters Extension club met at Mrs August Makdenhaurs home with sixteen members and six visitors. Mrs August Elintermeister and Mrs Arthur Timm led a Curtain Treatment demonstration and Dorothy Jones a bride elect was feted with gifts in a mock wedding. Refreshments were served by the hostess with help from Mrs Lambert and Mrs Timm.

State President and Dr P D Peabody of Webster joined Huron district physicians for a regular dinner at Hotel Marvin Hughitt last night. Dr H L Smith of Mayo Clinic Ro chester spoke on Practical Application of Electrocardiography. About 25 attended with guests G H Gulbrandson Davidson Tillisch Brookings and A C Clark Woonsocket. Woonsocket Legionnaires dedicated the club rooms in the new Legion Community building with a post meeting. Visitors from Mitchell and White Lake attended. The session concluded with the kitchen and dining room inaugurated and a lunch served to all attendees.

Working Hours Change for Women in Cotton Mills

Washington feb 13 operators of 70 percent of the nations cotton mills agreed to end night work for women and children on march first if owners with five percent more join. George A Sloan head of the Cotton Textile Institute conveyed the word to President Hoover and expressed the group's hope and belief that more mills would join soon.

Endangers Plane When Air Sick Man Causes Uproar

In Detroit a Chicago advertising man James Mangan endangered a Chicago to Detroit flight watched by two passengers and pilot Louis Steward. Mangan shouted, tried to enter the cockpit, tossed money, and opened a cabin door. Steward restrained him and landed the plane safely at City airport. He was removed by four policemen to the psychopathic ward for observation.

Parents Praise Smith Brothers Cough Syrup for Child

A Indianapolis reader Mrs. L Snodgrass recalls her five year old Ellen waking at midnight with coughs sneezing and fever. She gave a tea spoonful of Smith Brothers Cough Syrup and the child slept soundly and woke much improved the next morning. She urges other parents to use the syrup for children.
