Shift to Republican Control of Liquor and Beer Laws

The House approved the Senate measure 67 to 3 to move liquor laws to the state agriculture department and raise taxes. Legislature action could be reversed by referendums, delaying effects until 1938. The change also reallocates revenue from the justice department and marks a major Republican policy move amid party-line votes.
