Postpone Action On Fire Station

REDFIELD Feb 9 Special Action on the proposed reconstruction of the city fire hall was declined by the city council in regular session Monday night. J A Bockler, chairman of the fire committee, moved a plan calling for $1,500 by the city, the federal government paying all other costs to give the city an $8,000 improvement, but action was deferred until a joint meeting of the firemen and the council would be held. Adoption would mean the department would operate the rest of the year on $800 without buying additional equipment. The council discussed ordinances without adopting them, sending them to the ordinance committee. One proposed license for laundries and dry cleaners, one for fireworks reputations, and one to end the dog license period on January 1. Changes to the peddler ordinance were proposed. O A M Manson, a city assessor, was appointed. The water line and hydrant to the city baseball park was voted at $2,195 to water players and sprinkle the diamond. The city decided to buy a truck for the park department for use on other projects when convenient.

Additional ideas cover Ever-Normal Granary, export subsidies, quotas as a last resort, and adjustments to freight rates and marketing quotas to curb surpluses.
