Herds Tested in Faulk County Amid Cattle Program
In Baulegton February 9 twelve to nineteen herds totaling about 1240 cattle have been tested for tuberculosis as part of a county wide initiative. Sixteen herds showed positive for fealty and outbreak control measures. A similar effort is planned in the Lafoon community as part of ongoing tuberculosis eradication and agricultural program plans including a December conference. Also Willow Lake reports a 4-H club talk on boy and girl club work during the agricultural meeting.

Balanced ration show boosts dairy profits in big irrigation demo
The Newell Fes project display on the Helle Fourche irrigation plan tracked seven days of feeding costs and butterfat output. Cows averaged 268.9 pounds milk and 10.44 pounds butterfat per head, with total feed per cow around 158 pounds Bi alfa, 83 pounds mixed grain, 75 silage and 7 mangels. Individual cows led by a red durham owned by Henry Roberts, producing 12.3 pounds butterfat and highest profit, while others from HW Roswell and Jobe Theol posted strong results. Total feed costs averaged 0.377 cents per cow and $2.64 per week per cow, yielding profits above feed cost with butterfat priced at 44 cents per pound.
