Special Rule For 8 Acre Farms In Beadle County
Beadle County farmers with corn or wheat allotments under the 1939 Farm Program who farm less than eight acres may treat these crops as general soil depleting crops for payments and grow up to eight acres of either wheat or corn without deductions. E F Martin, chairman, says the change is among new provisions of the 1939 program to tailor it to small farms. The 1939 program is largely like 1938 but with changes of interest to many farmers, offering greater flexibility.

Nonallotment farm option under 8 acre rule
Mr. Martin explains that farms with wheat or corn allotments under eight acres may request to be treated as nonallotment farms. Payments for corn or wheat allotments follow general crop rates, with no auction at the deduction rate unless acreage exceeds eight. If the crop allotment is exceeded by choosing nonallotment, no price adjustment, payment, or loan is available for the crop.
