Prince of Wales Ill With Cold For SA Trip Cancellation

Prince of Wales' illness forces cancellation of his diamond mine visit near Johannesburg. Officials say he has a ordinary cold with no fever and expects a quick return to activities. He flew from Southampton to Capetown January 20 and planned to continue toward Portuguese East Africa after Johannesburg. Malaria and health conditions are noted in parts of South Africa.

Spink Teachers Assemble for County Meet Today

Spink county educators gathered in Redfield for a county meet with morning sessions separating teachers and school officials. Superintendent Guy W. Cook of Dotland delivered the teachers address, while State Attorney A. F. Schlehers spoke to officials. A joint session was planned for the Redfield high school auditorium in the afternoon with E. G. Higbie of Eastern Normal at Redfield scheduled as chief speaker and musical numbers featured by Mrs. P. M. Deller and TR. W. Kraussaar.

Reported last night at 7 30 a clock the fire damaged a residence in southeast Him Hamm Tim-Beath area with only minor damage. Fire started when wallpaper near a chaining box ignited reportedly noticed by children alone in the house.

Bank robbery near Rocky Hill ends with arrest

Carl Spillman 19 confessed aiding the Rocky Hill bank robbery early today. The elder Spillman, cashier and sole employe, ran the bank at 5 am when three men staged the hold up. About $3,000 was taken. Young Spillman claimed he did not participate in the holdup but rode as a lookout with two Indianapolis youths who promised $200. He was jailed in Bowling Green.

State Official's Car Crashes Into George Marsh

Marsh Ped. 1 1PpCertye & Marsh, $8. Plant garage awger, died at a hospital here last night from injuries suffered when struck by an automobile on G. S. highway No. Li two miles west of Blunt. Marsh, who had taken gasoline 102 grilled truck, stepped across the road into the path of an automobile driven by Frank D. Kriebs, secretary of agriculture. Marsh was hurled several feet by the impact, broke and skull injured. The accident occurred about 6:40 p.m. and he died here about four hours later without regaining consciousness. Ee Welch of Blunt, owner of the stalled truck, exonerated Kriebs from blame for the accident. The truck was parked on the south side of the road and Marsh started across the roadway toward his own car. Welch said he saw the approaching car and thought Marsh was crossing too late. Lights of Kriebs car were turned on and Welch could offer no explanation why Marsh failed to see it.

De Smet to lead Kingsbury county basketball tourney

Drawings for the Kingsbury county basketball tournament were made at Lake Preston High School gymnasium. February 11 set as the date. games begin February 14 at 2:30 PM with Batcrof t versus De Smet and Liveavols versus Olham. Semis set for Friday night and finals Saturday, with De Smet favored to win the bracket. Vincent Galvin of Sioux Falls named referee. K Bennett of Arlington presided. All eight schools entered except Troquois.
