Washington reports 1938 farm output likely four percent below the pre drought average of 1923-32 as reduced demand and fewer livestock curb grain use. Food crops show similar totals to last year with wheat at about 930.8 million bushels and corn around 2.542 billion. Secretary Wallace cites farm referenda to question claims of a 1938 agricultural act dictatorship, noting only one of five elections produced the required two thirds for market restrictions.
