Lovers quarrel and reconciliation amid family tensions
In a family story set around Cecily and Ann, two sisters, their wealth and poverty create friction. Ann frets over Mary Frances overnight plans while Phil, her fiancé, tries to ease tensions with calm affection. A late night walk and a kiss hint at renewed closeness as external pressures loom. The scene ends with a hint of ongoing strain and impending continuation.
