Interest On Farm Debt Is Reduced
Pasadena reports that annual farm-mortgage interest has fallen by about 180000 since 1930 as Farm Credit Administration refinancing cuts rates. Gov Myers says subsidies aided savings but should be temporary. DB debt refinancing now holds ~4 percent of US farm real estate mortgages. He urges equal credit and continued strengthening of farm cooperatives for ongoing relief.

Protecting Trees From Rabbits and Mice In Winter
Brookings December 10. L L Davis of State College outlines simple methods to shield fruit and ornamental trees from rabbits and mice during winter. Use 1 4 inch mesh galvanized hardware cloth around the base as a cylinder. Clear grass at the base. Protect trunks with resin alcohol or resin linseed oil repellents. Prepare mixtures by melting resin and mixing with denatured alcohol or linseed oil, store sealed. One application after bark dries is usually enough, and allowances should be made for snow to limit rabbit access higher on trees.
