Huron Troop 5 Leads In Area In Scout Achievement Contest

Huron Troop 5 leads the area in a Scout achievement contest begun October 21 and running to January 21, 1920, with 525 points. In second is Huron with 334 points. Troop 10 De Smet sits third and Troop 23 Alpena fourth. November gains boosted scores as troops enrolled new members and held outdoor meetings. Armistice day, outdoor rally, and patrol leaders convention aided progress. Tenderfoot rate in Huron area fell from 65 percent to 50 percent in two years, aiming for about 35 percent. Fred C. Esgers, area executive, commented today.

Hitchcock Girls Reserve Holiday Plans Preview

Maxine Sutter outlined Florence Nightingale life at Hitchcock Girl Reserve meeting. Mary E. Anspach of YWCA discussed Huron ties. Members sang carols. Baby Beef Clubs Organized at Yale

A new Baby Beef club led by Charles Davis forms at Yale with seven members. Plans call for four clubs under original members as leaders, but a November 22 meeting postponed formal organization and scheduled a membership drive. The Baby Pig Sheep and Dairy Calf clubs will organize at Yale Hall on December 15. George Davis to supervise all four clubs. Kansas Girl Wins National 4-H Outfit Championship

Cof feyville 17yearold Jennette Gamble won the national Girl’s contest at the annual 4H congress for a complete outfit including hat shoes lingerie and ensemble. The brown dominant color outfit cost 20.80 total with self made portions totaling 8.80 for the skirt jacket and extras and 4 for the hat 4 for the shoes 1.25 for the ivory base and 2.65 for lingerie.

Polly Prim-Sewing Club Plans New Year

Deland club girl Deland Polly Prim-Sewing reorganized into a sewing club led by Francis Paul and Belle Meyers for the coming year. Members will pay dues, pursue 4-H distinctions, and support trips such as Ethel Kitterman’s trip to the 4-H congress in Chicago.

Armour Girl Wins Medal For Records

Erna Altenburg of Armour received a medal for keeping the best record book in the Raby Park project during the past year. The medal was presented by J. W. Howe, district 4-H club agent. Roy Staneer of Wagner earned a cap for the same honor, presented by W. H. Frel of the Commercial State Bank of Wagner. Thirty-nine girls and boys participated in the county clubs contest.

Beadle County Boy Recalls 4-H Club Work and Wins

Edmund Barnes of Beadle county writes on his 4-H club journey from joining a baby beef club to winning state champ for a reserve fat lamb. He describes selecting top lambs, feeding them, and earning trips to Chicago, while also noting his role on the Livestock judging team at the State Fair and his Chicago congress attendance.
