State college selects Brookings head of Printing and Rural Journalism
Aug. 31. A. A. Applegate of Baker University Baldwin Kan has been recommended to become head of the Department of Printing and Rural Journalism at South Dakota State College to succeed C. D. Byrne who resigned to take a post at Oregon. President C. W. Pugsley announced the selection after a personal interview with Dr. G. L. Brown. The request for his appointment has gone to the regents. G. W. Longstaff was moving his office today from Allard jewelry building to Room 217 in the new Lampe market building. He expected to be settled in his new quarters this afternoon.

Kingsbury County Ships Alfalfa Seed from Two Towns
Two carloads of sweet clover seed were shipped this week from Kingsbury County with one car loaded at Lake Preston and another at De Smet. Tom Gonnor of Morris Illinois, credited with introducing dwarf sweet clover to the area, loaded the Lake Preston car. Mr Connor, a farm owner with properties in several states, owns two farms in the county. Miss Ida Gross has returned from a five week vacation at Big Stone Lake and points in Minnesota.
