Campbell presents a Thursday evening program at Park featuring overtures Fountain of Youth Smilin Through Poet and Peasant and Wedding of the Winds plus vocal selections by Eugene Kingdon John Floss Lota Glichell and others. The program includes Bonport pieces and instrumental solos with Beritone horn and vocal performances.
Opal Murphy a 28 year old farm woman from South Dakota and her five children aged 4 to 9 were found in a Denver railroad boxcar after a 1.70 mile bumming journey. They were taken to police for meals and arranged for return to Tyne Hall North Dakota. Murphy said the family traveled from South Dakota to Arkansas then Texas seeking relatives and her husband who worked as a farm laborer. He later went to Coffeyville Kansas for work and no word came. The group then headed north back toward their South Dakota home.
F. W. Marsh a Yale drayman is hospitalized with severe burns after his light pickup overturned on highway 14 west of Yale. He was pinned beneath the vehicle and crew from Cavour extricated him before transport to Moron for medical care.
In a Northside district search ending after 23 hours, 100 policemen located three month old Diane Carol Lucas four miles from the scene. Mrs Dorothy Lucas and Herman Liuvas gratefully reunited with the infant, who wore pink-trimmed white clothing and a white embroidered dress as the parents expressed relief and joy.
Light to moderate rain across southeastern South Dakota improved corn and plowing conditions while the far southeast saw heavier amounts. McGinnis notes most crops in the Black Hills are fair to good, but range and pastures deteriorated. soil in southeast areas is suitable for plowing, though overall dryness limits field work.
Montague, a Hollywood figure, is jailed in Essex County awaiting bail decision by Supreme Court Justice O Byron Browste. Prosecutors oppose bail, citing the 1930 Joy road house holdup in which the defendant, then Laverne Moore, battered an elderly victim and his son-in-law with a pistol and blackjack before abandoning them along the Ausable River.

Investigators say Miss Snyder planned to marry Lee, and the slayers may have killed to post a warning to outsiders.
Shanghai dispatch details a Japanese naval assault to land fresh troops at Shanghai amid heavy losses and a blockade aimed at crippling Yangtze shipping. The plan includes attacks on Nanking, mass landing on Woosung promontory, and a broad 800 mile blockade. Estimates cite large troop transports offshore, thousands pending ashore, and vast property damage with hundreds of thousands displaced.
