Tree Watering Set Wednesday In Huron
Huron residents may water trees and shrubs again Wednesday from early morning until 8 oclock announced City Water Commissioner G. M. Anderson. The James river water level remains high enough to ensure ample supply for sprinkling, with about 550000 gallons used last week and a similar amount expected this week. Work on a new ditch to aid city water intake progresses rapidly, with a 50 foot long trench being laid and a reservoir to collect water. Officials expect about 19 days to complete the ditch unless many rocks slow progress. The reservoir will lie west of the road under Chicago and North Western tracks near Ravine park, fed by a test hole yielding drinkable water. An artesian well is also being drilled, with the drill at 65 feet.

Chase Down Paving Ends When Shooting Fray Starts In City
A pursuit along seven miles of new paving ended in a shooting fray near Ninth street and Illinois avenue southwest as two alleged thieves fled from an oil station. Gordon Martin and James Thomas of Cambridge NL were jailed awaiting arraignment after Palmer, an oil station operator, fired shots and forced the sedan to stop. One shell from a 38 revolver narrowly missed Palmer’s head. a shotgun blast toward the second car caused glass and minor injuries. Police recovered a 22 rifle and ammunition from the pursuing vehicle.

Four Auto Racers Hurt In Pileup At Riverview Park
Four automobile racing drivers were injured, one seriously, when their cars piled up on a turn at Riverview Park speedway in Sioux City Sunday.
