Over 500 advance registrations for the seventy seventh annual American Pharmaceutical association gathering at Rapid City August 26 to 31. Dr Charles H Mayo of Rochester will give the principal address on The Chemistry of Nature while Plant Science leaders join from the School of Mines and University circles.

Warrant Scope Narrow, Limited to County Boundaries

South Dakota Attorney General M. Q. Sharpe says search warrants issued to a county sheriff do not authorize searches in another county beyond 500 yards of the county line. He adds authority of a justice is limited to warrants issued within his own county, and notes only one case allows outside county searches at boundary lines.

Pierre Kilties to Enter U S Drum Corps Contest

Pierre Kilties, the South Dakota American Legion drum corps, plans to compete in the national drum corps contest at Louisville Kentucky from September 30 to October 3. To raise funds for travel and participation the corps sponsors a carnival on August 27. Their first national showing at San Antonio last year finished sixth.

Fall term of court opens with liquor cases and naturalizations

Miller August 23 special report says the regular fall term starts September 9 with adjournments until September 16 when jurors report. Expect considerable business due to numerous liquor cases and naturalization petitions from about a dozen applicants.

Kiwanis and 4-H Poultry Club Picnic Planned

Pierre Kiwanis club and Hughes county 4-H poultry club parents plan a Riverside Park picnic on Thursday September 5. Farmers provide fried chicken and melons while Kiwanians bring coffee salads cakes and ice cream. Vaudeville entertainment from Fort Pierre Stanley county fair acts will be included. About 200 are expected.

Corn Palace Show Adds Sharon De Vries Revue Act

Mitchell Aug 23 The buying committee J Harmon A F Smith and W J MacLain have secured the Sharon De Vries Revue for the 1929 Corn Palace show. The twenty minute musical comedy features eight girls and promises a miniature production with scenic changes and a wardrobe display. One more act remains to be secured before the bill is complete.

J R Jewell urged public confidence and cooperation to ensure success of social work programs. He warned against parasitic projects and outlined Nebraska and national efforts in vocational rehabilitation funded by the federal government. He advocated a publicity campaign to mobilize communities and locate and assist disabled persons into suitable employment.

Miner County Fair Building Rushes Toward Completion

Howard Aug. 23 with the completion of the Miner county fair building section devoted to swing work cattle and horse sections rush work continues. Thirty eight swine pens finished last week with board floors and windows along the west side of the swine area a room converted into a poultry display room.
