Bonesteel will mark the 25th anniversary of Rosebud county opening during the last three days of August. A major attractions lineup includes Leonard Stroud's cowboy circus with professional performers led by the world champion cowboy and trick rider and roper. A carnival company rides for kids, tent and picture shows, band concerts, free attractions and a large open air dance each night.

Yankton Man Sets New Record For Jail Breaks

John Myers of Yankton breaks out of jail multiple times while awaiting liquor charge and commits eluding acts across counties. He escapes during jail transfer, hides in Mitchell, then eludes Cedar county officers and returns to Yankton, escaping again as meals are delivered.

Madison Man Named on University Chemistry Faculty

Maurice Nelles of Madison South Dakota will join the University of South Dakota chemistry department faculty this fall. His appointment has been confirmed by the state board of regents. The seventh Dakota boy earned his ALB degree from the state university.

Mrs. Wm. Koupal suffered severe burns to legs and arms when a gasoline can in her hand ignited and exploded. Her mother’s timely help prevented a worse outcome. The burns are painful but she is recovering as expected.

Highmore stock buyers contract pigs and cattle

Highmore buyers Elmer Quirck and West Newell contracted pigs and cattle in the vicinity for delivery October 1. They bought 125 pigs at 12 cents each, 50 calves at 48 dollars each, and a string of steers at 11 cents from Hall brothers. They also purchased three-year-old steers and dry cows from William Gregory.

Yale reports a farmer planted 340 acres and harvested 5000 bushels of wheat and 3000 bushels of oats. The total yield reflects a strong return from the season.

Woman and Daughter Burned In Canning Jar Explosion

Mrs Joel Christensen and her young daughter June suffered burns to arms and face when a jar of cord was being removed from the oven and exploded. Scalding water was showered over them in Woonsocket on August 22 in a special report.
