Kiwanis District Convention Opens In Huron
More than 200 Kiwanis members registered by noon for the Minnesota Dakota district convention set to start tomorrow in Huron. District trustees will hold a semi annual business conference led by District Governor Rosser J. Willis. Notables include W C Coventry Duluth and J H Lammers Welington Springs past district governors, with international delegates Hill Manhattan Kansas and Parker Chicago. The St Cloud bid for the 1930 district convention surfaces as officers are elected Friday. A 24 piece drum corps from Grand Forks and a Pierre escort may attend, with golf events at Huron Country Club and lodging at Dinneen Motor Company. The all district dinner and Governor's Ball will fill Machinery Hall at the State Fairgrounds tomorrow night, with 1000 guests expected and music by the Oriole Club orchestra. Morning sessions begin at the Huron Theatre at 9:15.

Electric line contact kills Sioux Falls man
Sioux Falls man Lawrence Carpenter age 25 was electrocuted while on a hole-digging machine operated by a Northern States Power construction crew. The machine touched an overhead line and Carpenter died before reaching hospital.

Baby Face Doody Captured Without a Shot Fired
Chicago August 14. The notorious Willie Doody known as Baby Face Doody was arrested without firing a shot after eluding police nets for months.
