Level-Farming Works Prove Helpful In South Dakota
In Sturgis area farmers cooperating with the Soil Conservation Service report effective use of contour furrows and level-farming devices to hold rainfall. After about 2.25 inches rainfall July 12 to 14, fields near Sturgis and Whitewood showed water held in basins and pasture furrows, protecting soil and boosting pasture and wheat growth.

No Provision For Recalling Officials In Pierre
August 5. Attorney General Clair Roddewig said there is no legal provision for recalling mayors or aldermen in cities with mayor and council government. The state code allows removal in board of commissioners cities but not in aldermanic municipal corporations. State’s Attorney Atherton did not provide reasons for requesting the opinion.
