Fair measure to end South Dakota fair faces House action

The bill to discontinue the South Dakota state fair for this year and next faces House consideration in Pierre as a special order. The measure, reported without recommendation by the state affairs committee, would cut the fair secretary’s salary from 2000 to 500 and transfer unexpended funds to relief and general funds while preserving limited care of grounds. It is uncertain if abolition will pass in the special session.
