Ruling Sought On State Match For Wagner-Peyser Funds
The South Dakota nonemployment compensation commission asked Attorney General Leo A. Temmey for an opinion on whether the state unemployment compensation law could be interpreted to provide a general fund appropriation of 16,781.52 dollars to match federal Wagner-Peyser funds for operating the state employment service. The 1929 Legislature ended a continuing appropriation used for matching, referencing sections of the Wagner-Peyser act and state law. If interpretive, the legislature would need to appropriate the same amount as the federal allocation of 16,782.52 dollars, the commission says.
