Detroit April 2 Union workers at Buick Motor Co and Chevrolet plants voted to strike after negotiations stalled. Buick votes 9,300 for with 2,080 against and Chevrolet 6,300 for with 0 for opposed. Strike requires international ratification. no date set. Grievances include seniority, layoffs for union activity, and use of preferred lists. A Buick strike would halt production. a Flint Chevy walkout could shut all Chevy assembly plants.
In Hollywood on April 23 Jackie Coogan's mother Mrs Arthur Bernstein won the right to amend her deposition in the suit over his earnings as The Kid. She had sworn last Monday and seeks to explain a guardianship petition from 1933 to set up a trust for their son's earnings. Bernstein testified she did not plan a fund for Jackie.
