Aberdeen April 23 Records fell as Aberdeen relays opened in cold wet conditions. Johnson of Sioux Falls sped to a new high school 100 yard dash mark in 10.2 seconds and Dietz of Minot Teachers College shattered the shot put record with 44 feet 6.25 inches. Hall of Sioux Falls set a high hurdles heat record, while Coats of Doland won the final high school shot put.
Harlem cult leader Father Divine faced felonious assault charges and bail set at 500 dollars after a riotlike scuffle as 1000 followers packed the No Heaven sanctuary. Four other cult members were arraigned alongside him for the stabbing of Harry Green in Harlem. Divine, once missing for two days, was captured in Milford Connecticut and brought to court amid chanting and protests.
Heavy rain fell across parts of South Dakota with Watertown receiving 0.31 inch and Aberdeen 0.42 inch. Other towns including Brookings Yankton Huron and Rapid City logged lighter amounts while a trace fell at Rapid City. A light shower brought 0.2 inch to Huron. Temperatures were in the low 40s as forecasts called for cloudy skies and slightly colder conditions overnight into Saturday.
