Labor Fights Federal Wage Aid Cuts in South Dakota

South Dakota Federation of Labor executive council protested reductions in federal funding for the National Labor Relations Board and the Wage and Hour Administration. They urged Congress to support AFL amendments to the Wagner Act, discussed disqualification schemes by employers, and planned broader organizing efforts including carpenters and coal miners. The two day meeting in Huron included leaders from Huron, Aberdeen, Sioux Falls and Rapid City and set plans for a Sioux Falls convention in August.

Seven Initiated At K O C Ceremonial In Huron

Seven candidates were initiated into the Catholic fraternal organization by Huron No. 779 with Watertown degree team. The rite occurred Sunday afternoon in St. Martin's Church basement followed by a Dutch lunch and evening at the K of C clubrooms. State deputy H A Bauer and district deputy James W. Reedy spoke, with Barney Donahue leading the Watertown team and Rev. Francis J. Cronin of Redfield visiting. About 75 attended.

Sioux Falls Girl Rescued From River

Thelma Olson was pulled from the Sioux River early Sunday morning and is reported somewhat better at a local hospital. Patrolman Joe Parkman and Weldon Holm rescued her after she jumped from the Rock River wall below the Eighth Street bridge. The examination showed she suffered shock and water in the lungs.

Mrs. O B Dahlgren Dies at 76 in Oregon

Mrs. O B Dahlgren aged 76 died Sunday at the home of Mrs. Melvin Jorgensen in Southeast Oregon after a year long illness. She was born February 12, 1884 in Norway and came with her parents to Ta area, later moving to a farm near Dell Rnpi. She married Otte B Dahlgren June 18, 1883 and is survived by six daughters, two sons, grandchildren, and four more children. She was active in the Lutheran Church all her life. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at Welter Chapel with Rev Toliefsan of the America Church in charge, burial in Willow Creek Cemetery south of Deim.
